		<description>Many moons ago (well between the years 2000 to ~2012) I did a lot more furniture, spatial and interaction design projects. Here is a selection;

Sticker Bench for&#38;nbsp;London Design Festival
2008
I took inspiration from the different stages of timber production. After trees are felled and have been cut into planks, thin strips of wood known as stickers are placed systematically in-between the layers as planks are stacked on top of one another. This allows air to circulate around the wood and for it to dry without warping and shrinkage. From this process I explored way to create forms which have a volume yet are efficient in terms of materials and manufacturing process. The shape of the bench references where it came from.

Interactive Lighting for Artemide with Interaction Design Institute Ivrea.
2005I was invited to work with a team of electronic engineers and interaction designers at the Interaction Design Institute Ivrea in Italy to develop a series of interactive lighting solutions for Italian lighting company Artemide. The project was about generating concepts and prototypes for interactive lighting objects with an objective to bring it to the stage ready for possible implementation and production.

A meeting space for Method2010

We were asked to create a comfortable, private space where meetings and client workshops could happen, whilst not breaking the open-plan, democratic nature of the studio. Naturally our solution had to reflect Method's inspirational approach to design.
We resolved many of the poor acoustic issues in the meeting space, by designing a deviating grid of lightweight, sound absorbing acoustic panels which are suspended above the main table. The fixture defines the space and effectively cancels out much of the noise from within the meeting space.
We installed a modular shelving/coloured partition system around the meeting table which acts as a presentation wall, storage and physical division in the space.

Exhibition design and bespoke furniture for&#38;nbsp; The Soho Warriors FC collective at Pick Me Up, Somerset House, London
2012
The SWFC Matchday space radiates around a central seating and table area where visitors and the artists can interact, view and discuss the work on show. The tiered walls provide a 3D grid surface and ensure the work is always perpendicular to the viewer. Wall structure from recycled honeycomb board, a material that is 100 % recycled. Stadia benches and tables from lacquered plywood.
The Stadia bench is a flat pack, slot together structure, inspired by stadium architecture. The benches are available in a range of sizes and materials.

A meeting space for a creative agency PD3
2009
Responding to the clients needs for privacy and a division of function in their studio, our solution was to design a partition wall which has a defining presence in the space. The structure ensures that people are aware of activity from either side in a non-intrusive way.
The archetypal profile is directly offset from the walls and ceilings in the space. The bold graphic language of the wall reflects the joists, battens and supports in it’s immediate environment. The studio side remains untreated white oak whilst the meeting side is clad with a thin layer of natural felt.

A modular exhibition space for McKinsey Hospital Institute, designed with interaction design agency Sennep.
2012
Taking our lead from the digital design language, the system consists of a series of modular, interlocking panels which are highlighted by subtle changes in texture; painted veneers, lacquered surfaces, frosted perspex, fabrics and laminates.
The system could be re-configured for a number of uses.

Radial Clock
2008

A folded face clock available in either Coloured or Grey.
Based on early colour wheels, the radial concertina fluxes and folds its way through it's colours. The Grey face clock is cool, calm, solid and sculptural. Throughout the day the planes change appearance as they pick up the light, shadows and highlights.

Welcome to Wedderspoon Wellness Wonderland where you can immerse yourself in all things joyful, fun and indulgent.
Playing on scale, nostalgia and games to give everyone a memorable experience.

ChallengeNatural Products Expo West (USA) is considered the world's largest natural, organic, and healthy products event. Our objective was to showcase the new Wedderspoon Manuka Honey brand (which ThoughtFull had recently helped develop) attracting and engaging a wider and more diverse group of customers than the core organic, natural customer.Approach
Leading the design team from ThoughtFull , we developed a range of experiential ideas exploring vibrancy, fun, immediacy and excitement.&#38;nbsp; Our final direction was the Wedderspoon Wellness Wonderland, where visitors could indulge themselves in all things joyful and fun.
We took the ‘layers of goodness’ concept we’d developed for the packaging and translated that into a multi-dimensional space, bold enough to stand out in a very busy environment, but also warm, open and inviting. We incorporated a number of super-sized instagrammable props celebrating our natural ingredients, created interactive experiences and purposeful spaces for private conversations and welcome interactions. We extended our concept into winnable merch, product giveaways, social media and uniforms.ActivitiesConcept designMerch and giveaways design3D modelling&#38;nbsp;Full scale prototypingOverseeing production

A world-first experience, Skynest is a bookable, 6 pod sleep zone on long haul flights
Skynest has won numerous global airline industry and design awards since its announcement and launch in 2023

ChallengeAir New Zealand sought to develop a world-class, differentiated experience for their 'Future Air Cabin Experience' program, designed for their new fleet of aircraft. Approach
As part of the ThoughtFull team, I was engaged from the outset, leading various projects throughout the innovation program. Skynest represented one of several initiatives that successfully advanced from initial concept development through approval, prototyping, and business case creation before moving into production.&#38;nbsp;An internal team focussed on the industrial design while we focussing on everything else - the end-to-end experience, from how a customer would discover the Skynest, to the booking flow through to blueprinting the inflight service experience.&#38;nbsp;ActivitiesUX, Service design and developmentProduct design and developmentPrototyping and customer testingDeveloping the CVPBrand development and ‘Nestiquette’
OutcomesSkynest has won numerous global airline industry and design awards since its announcement in 2023. It’s due to be launched in 2024 on ultra long haul flights between New York and Auckland.

 Strategy and Vision

For: ThoughtFulll DesignClient: Fonterra
2024 - 2025
with Olivia Dobrowolski, Hudson Smales
	Fixing the compliance experience is Fonterra’s number one farmer facing business challenge&#38;nbsp;
Our mission was to ease the burden of compliance and turn it into a competitive advantage
	Challenge
Farmers were struggling with compliance tasks that had become fragmented across numerous touchpoints, platforms, systems, and brands. This fragmentation was compounded by poor integration across the industry, leading to unnecessary duplication, recalculation, and reinterpretation of data. Our task was to redesign Fonterra's complete suite of compliance products and services to address these challenges.
ApproachA taskforce was formed to tackle the challenge. This included a small internal team, external consultants CoCreated (venture design) and ThoughtFull Design. My role through ThoughtFull has been to lead the design of the Fonterra farmer experience involving UX and Product strategy, design direction and research.

PhasesSprint 1/ Define the problem and solutionSprint 2/ Develop and validate the solution
Sprint 3/ Architect and design the solutionActivities
Foundational user research, defining the problem and creating foundational frameworks, models and mapsExemplar and competitor analysisSolution validation with farmers and partners Supporting the business case with product and experience strategyEnvisioning the future experience Concept design and testing
System Mapping and communication artefactsDetailed design and usability testingCreating foundational design artefacts: style guide, product principles, ways of working, tone of voice, naming architecture

OutcomesThis project is currently a work in progress. We are in the design and development phase, designing and developing a suite of product and service solutions over a multi-year transformation program.

A suite of resources and tools bringing clarity to teams around the current and future customer jobs we serve and drive better strategic product decisions
ChallengeConnected Workplaces was Xeros emergent suite of HR tools: a mixture of legacy products - payroll and expenses a newely acquired staff rostering product.
There were ~560ppl in ‘CW’, across multiple product teams, business functions and regions. Each team had their own roadmaps, priorities and view of the customer experience. This had led to siloed decision making and a fragmented customer experience.
I was asked to lead the creation a shared resource which would;Align product teams around the current and future jobs we serveConsolidate disparate customer insights into one placeEnable product leadership to align around a shared view, with a framework and the evidence to make better strategic decisions.
ApproachKnowing we needed the input and advocacy from a range of teams, we adopted a highly collaborative, transparent and iterative approach in creating the artefacts. We used a Jobs To Be Done Framework, to identify current and future customer needs. The body of work was developed iteratively over ~3 months. At it’s core sat the journey, but it also included customer value pillars, key insights and customer types.
OutcomesThe journey and consolidated insights used were as a human-centered framework to prioritise modernisation efforts (with Engineering)Our Architecture team used JTBD to map domain boundaries and create domain driven teamsI worked with our Data and Analytics Team to identify where to instrument tracking in the current productOur Product and Design Teams used the resource to define scope, inform and kick-off discovery work General alignment across the division on the JTBD we serve now and might serve in the futureThe work was used as the basis to roll out a Xero wide mapping of high level customer journeys and JTBD

Creating a hero destination venue for TAB / Entain

Challenge&#38;nbsp; TAB is a legacy New Zealand institution that supports responsible betting initiatives nationwide and contributes millions to local sporting bodies. As part of a refreshed brand identity led by ThoughtFull, our challenge was to design a space at the iconic Ellerslie Racecourse to hero the new brand. We set out to create a venue which would foster camaraderie amongst sports fans and ampify the excitement on race day. We aimed to strengthen the connection between guests and the world of racing by bringing the behind-the-scenes elements into the space, offering a fresh experience and new, innovative ways to engage with the race.
Approach
With a tight budget and deadline, much of our prototyping and design development was done on-site, working closely with the build team and fabricators. One of our guiding principles was to celebrate the original character of this iconic venue. We made the bold decision to remove an existing ceiling, exposing the stunning structural details of the historic stand.

Other notable experiences included ‘tunnel cam’ - bringing behind the scenes footage into the venue and jockey silks banner sytem - celebrating recent big winners.

BackgroundConnected Workplaces was Xeros emergent suite of HR tools: a mixture of legacy products - payroll and expenses a newely acquired rostering product. Challenge
We needed a simple and engaging way to communicate our vision for the future customer experience to an internal audience.ApproachI was asked to lead a small, focussed working group which included our senior leadership. We teased out and brought to life a number of future category opportunities and strategic objectives.
