A world-first experience, Skynest is a bookable, 6 pod sleep zone on long haul flights

Skynest has won numerous global airline industry and design awards since its announcement and launch in 2023

Challenge
Air New Zealand sought to develop a world-class, differentiated experience for their 'Future Air Cabin Experience' program, designed for their new fleet of aircraft.

Approach
As part of the ThoughtFull team, I was engaged from the outset, leading various projects throughout the innovation program. Skynest represented one of several initiatives that successfully advanced from initial concept development through approval, prototyping, and business case creation before moving into production. An internal team focussed on the industrial design while we focussing on everything else - the end-to-end experience, from how a customer would discover the Skynest, to the booking flow through to blueprinting the inflight service experience.

Activities
  • UX, Service design and development
  • Product design and development
  • Prototyping and customer testing
  • Developing the CVP
  • Brand development and ‘Nestiquette’

Outcomes
Skynest has won numerous global airline industry and design awards since its announcement in 2023. It’s due to be launched in 2024 on ultra long haul flights between New York and Auckland.
