Challenge
For its ‘Future Air Cabin Experience’ program (for it’s new fleet of aircraft), Air New Zealand wanted to create a differentiated, world class experience.
I was involved through ThoughtFull from the outset, leading multiple projects across the innovation program. Skynest was one of a number of projects which progressed from initial ideation, approval, prototyping and business case and then onto production.
Approach
I led multiple steams of work through the development of Skynest, from its conception and development as an idea through to approval from the exec. An internal team led the Industrial Design while we focussing on everything else - the end-to-end experience, from how a customer would discover the Skynest, to the booking flow through to blueprinting the inflight service experience.
Activities
Outcomes
Skynest has won numerous global airline industry and design awards since its announcement in 2023. It’s due to be launched in 2024 on ultra long haul flights between New York and Auckland.
